Oregon Hotels

Hotels in the state of Oregon are often required for tourism. Some tourists may want to use a hotel for short term accommodation. Some tourists may want to visit the state so they can tour the state, or see the culture of the state. They may want to see the major cities the major towns and the rural areas of the state. They may want to have a hotel with good prices. They may want a hotel that has good scenery.

Oregon is a state in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. The area was inhabited by many indigenous tribes before the arrival of traders, explorers and settlers. The Oregon Territory was created in 1848 after American settlement began in earnest in the 1840s. Oregon became a state (33rd) on February 14, 1859. Oregon is located on the Pacific coast between Washington to the north, California to the south, Nevada on the southeast and Idaho to the east. The Columbia and Snake rivers delineate much of Oregon's northern and eastern boundaries respectively. Salem is the state's state capital, with Portland the most populous city.

The valley of the Willamette River in western Oregon is the most densely populated and agriculturally productive region of the state and is home to eight of the ten most populous cities.

The Snake River is a major tributary of the Columbia River in the USA states of Wyoming, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington.

Human habitation of the Pacific Northwest began at least 15,000 years ago, with the oldest evidence of habitation in Oregon found at Fort Rock Cave and the Paisley Caves in Lake County. Archaeologist Luther Cressman dated material from Fort Rock to 13,200 years ago By 8000 BC there were settlements throughout the state, with populations concentrated along the lower Columbia River, in the western valleys, and around coastal estuaries.

By the 16th century Oregon was home to many Native American groups, including the Bannock, Chasta, Chinook, Kalapuya, Klamath, Molalla, Nez Perce, Takelma, and Umpqua.

Oregon's geography may be split roughly into 7 areas: Oregon Coast—west of the Coast Range, Willamette Valley, Rogue Valley, Cascade Mountains, Klamath Mountains, Columbia River Plateau, Basin and Range Region

The Oregon Coast is a geographical term that is used to describe the coast of the US state of Oregon along the Pacific Ocean. Stretching 362 miles from the city of Astoria to the California border, the Oregon Coast is unique in that the entire coast is public land. Oregon law prohibits private ownership of coastline property. The Oregon Coast is often divided into three regions: The North Coast, from the Washington border at Astoria to Lincoln City ; The Central Coast, from Lincoln City to Reedsport ; The South Coast, from Reedsport to the California border, just south of Brookings. There are no large cities on the coast, mainly due to the lack of deep harbors with access to the inland agricultural areas. The largest metropolitan area consists of the bordering cities of Coos Bay and North Bend on the South Coast; the area has a population of approximately 25,000 people.
The Willamette Valley is the region in northwest Oregon in the United States that surrounds the Willamette River as it proceeds northward from its emergence from mountains near Eugene to its confluence with the Columbia River at Portland. Being a productive agricultural area, the valley was the destination of choice for the emigrants on the Oregon Trail in the 1840s. It has formed the cultural and political heart of Oregon since the days of the Oregon Territory, and is home to 70 per cent of Oregon's population. The valley may be loosely defined as the broad plain of the Willamette, bounded on the west by the Oregon Coast Range and on the east by the Cascade Range. It is bounded on the south by the Calapooya Mountains, which separate the headwaters of the Willamette from the Umpqua River valley about 25 miles south of Hidden Valley. Interstate 5 runs the length of the valley, linking its major communities.

The Rogue Valley is a farming and timber-producing region in southwestern Oregon in the United States. located along the middle Rogue River and its tributaries in Josephine and Jackson counties, the valley forms the cultural and economic heart of southern Oregon near the California border. The largest communities in the Rogue Valley include Medford, Ashland, and Grants Pass. The most populated part of the Rogue Valley is not along the Rogue proper, but along a smaller tributary (Bear Creek). The valley forms a relatively isolated enclave west of the Cascade Range along the north side of the Siskiyou Mountains. It is separated from the nearby coast by a high section of the Coast Range. The valley is characterized by a mild climate that allows a long growing season, especially for many varieties of fruits and nuts. A small regional manufacturing industry is centered at Medford. In recent years the area has emerged as a wine-growing region and it is the location of the Rogue Valley AVA. The mild climate and relative isolation had made the valley a popular retirement destination. The community of Ashland is famous for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Interstate 5 follows the valley through Ashland and Medford.

The Cascade Range is a major mountain range of western North America, extending from southern British Columbia through Washington and Oregon to Northern California. It includes both non-volcanic mountains, including the rugged spires of the North Cascades, and the notable volcanoes known as the High Cascades. The small part of the range in British Columbia is called the Canadian Cascades or Cascade Mountains; the latter term is also sometimes used by Washington residents to refer to the Washington section of the Cascades in addition to North Cascades, the more usual American term, as in North Cascades National Park.

The Klamath Mountains, sometimes called the Salmon Mountains, are a rugged lightly populated mountain range in northwest California and southwest Oregon in the United States. The highest peaks are Mount Eddy in Siskiyou County, California, Thompson Peak in Trinity County, California, and Mount Ashland in Jackson County, Oregon. They have a varied geology, with substantial areas of serpentine and marble, and a climate characterised by a moderately cold winters with very heavy snowfall, and warm very dry summers with limited rainfall.

The Columbia River Plateau is a geologic and geographic region that lies across parts of the US states of Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. It is a wide flood basalt plateau between the Cascade and Rocky Mountains, cut through by the Columbia River. In common usage, the term Columbia Basin refers to more or less the same area as the Columbia Plateau.

The Great Basin is a large, arid region of the western US. Its boundaries depend on how it is defined. Its most common definition is the contiguous watershed, roughly between the Wasatch Mountains, in Utah and the Sierra Nevada, that has no natural outlet to the sea. Therefore it is endorheic. The Great Basin Desert is defined by the extent of characteristic plant species, and covers a somewhat different (and smaller) area.The Great Basin Culture Area, home to several Shoshonean Great Basin tribes, extends further to the north and east than the hydrographic basin. The Basin and Range Province is a geologic region that is most recognizable in the Great Basin but extends well into the Sonoran and Mojave Deserts.
